Restaurant Suggestions
Many of the restaurants and tavernas in Pissouri don’t have websites - just pop in the night before to book or just turn up and see if they’ve got availability. All the Pissouri restaurants/tavernas are very good, but here are some of our favourites:
Those with no website: Two Friends, Hideaway, Moonlight, Leon’s bar & Panorama Lounge
Melanda Beach Restaurant (at Melanda Beach)
Stalla Grill in Alektora (next door village)
Supermarkets
Andros Supermarket (more like a mini-mart) is in Pissouri Square. A much larger supermarket is at the bottom of the hill, currenly still called Papantoniou, but has recently been taken over by another firm. It has a good selection of food and wines, with a fish, meat and deli section too. Opposite the supermarket is Cava Pangeras which has very reasonably priced wines.
At the end of Pissouri Square there’s a beautiful fountain, as well as a small supermarket and a couple of shops.
Melanda Beach, a 15-minute drive away, has a sandy and small pebble beach with excellent swimming. You can hire sunbeds and sun umbrellas too. There’s an very good fish restaurant with amazing views over the bay.
The bustling town of Limassol is a 30-minute drive away. Here you will find large shops, a new marina and plenty of bars and restaurants. On the way to Limassol is the ancient amphitheatre of Curium - well worth a visit.
In the summer months, Pissouri Square hosts Cyprus Night with with bouzouki music and Cypriot dancing. Book a taverna in the square in advance as it can be very busy.
Columbia Beach Hotel on the beach at Pissouri has a fine dining restaurant and offers spa days and tennis. Aphrodite Hills Resort, about a 12 minute drive away, has golf, tennis and a spa. There’s another golf course at Secret Valley Golf Resort next to Aphrodite Hills.
To escape the heat of the summer, you could visit the Troodos mountains. The beautiful town of Platres is 40 minutes away on a road trip which takes you through lots of traditional old Cypriot villages where time stands still.
Taxis
Paphos airport is around 25 minutes away. A day-time taxi will cost about 45e from Paphos Airport to the villa. A journey from Larnaca Airport to the villa will take just over an hour and cost about 95e for a day-time taxi.
